Cabworx is a purpose-built industrial facility designed to support the production of high-quality joinery, window frames, and 2-pack finishing. The building is organised into three distinct functional zones, unified by a generous covered loading area along one side that allows B-double vehicles to move efficiently through the site for loading and dispatch.
At the front of the building, a two-storey office and showroom provides a public-facing interface, presenting the company’s products while maintaining a clear separation from the industrial operations behind.
The project brings together manufacturing efficiency with a robust architectural response tailored to the site’s challenging conditions. A defining constraint was a significant 2-metre level change between the front boundary and the central building pad, with the rear third of the structure positioned over fill. These ground conditions required a carefully considered structural solution to ensure long-term stability and performance.
To address this, the rear portion of the building is supported on a system of screw piles, providing a stable foundation despite the variable subsurface conditions. This approach minimised ground disturbance while accommodating the slope and maintaining structural integrity across the entire footprint.
Externally, the building adopts a restrained and durable material palette, including concrete tilt panels along the boundary to achieve the required fire rating, paired with a simple, efficient roof form that reinforces the project’s industrial clarity.
The result is a highly functional and resilient industrial environment that integrates production workflows with pragmatic engineering solutions, delivering a facility tailored to Cabworx’s operational needs.
